John Yeager has been teaching yoga for the past 8 years and continues to study and refresh.
A retired general contractor, he has traveled across North America, Latin America, China, Tibet, Africa, and Europe climbing mountains and touring. He is very much looking forward to this immersion into the exotic and beautiful Morocco while sharing yoga with you in this magical place. He will lead you through the same slow easy breathing and strengthening of yoga while practicing in an oasis, at the ocean, in the Atlas mountains, at Unesco World Heritage Sites, the Sahara Desert, and immersing into the culture, people, and geography of Morocco!

We will arrive in the afternoon and have time to stroll through the village taking in the enchanting blue buildings with their wrought iron windows, colorful roofs, and charm wherever you look. After checking into your lodging, you have the option to take the ½ hour hike to the Spanish Mosque and be able to view the city at sunset while enjoying a yoga session before heading back for dinner in the town.
You will be transported through the olive groves and Rif Mountains, to Fes, the second largest city in Morocco.
Fes is considered the cultural and spiritual center of Morocco. It is one of the Imperial Cities (13th and 14th centuries). You will have a guided tour through the medina (another Unesco World Heritage Site) known as Fes el-Bali and described as the most extensive and best conserved historic town of the Arab-Muslim world. One of the highlights will be getting a fabulous view of the colorful and pungent tannery. You will spend 2 nights in Fes.
You will step back in time while visiting the nearby city of Meknes and the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis (Unesco World Heritage Sites)
You will travel through the scenic mid-Atlas Mountains to the Sahara Desert
With the option of riding camels to your camp, where you will spend the night in luxury tents, complete with bathrooms including showers! You can be transported by 4×4 vehicles if you prefer not to ride a camel. You will witness the sun setting over the desert dunes and be amazed at the peace and calm it offers you. There will be time to include a yoga session either before dinner or the next morning (maybe both) while in this unique and mesmerizing location.
After dinner you will be able to have the incredible experience of drumming and dancing around a campfire under the expansive starry night.
While traveling towards the beautiful oasis of Skoura you will pass through the Todra Gorges with its massive pink, sandstone canyon walls and the beautiful Valley of Roses.
You will stay at the enchanting Ksar El Kabbaba (or similar). Your afternoon will afford you free time where you can relax in the olive grove, experience a hammam, have a massage, or take a tour of the Kasbah Amridil before having a lovely dinner at their exquisite, world class restaurant.
After a morning yoga session you will start your transfer to the magic of Marrakech. Options along the way include seeing the Unesco World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou, the backdrop for films such as Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and The Last Temptation of Christ. Included will be a tour of Atlas Studios where movies, Ben Hur, Cleopatra, The Passion of Christ, the series Game of Thrones, and many many more have been filmed. Then your adventure will bring you across the High Atlas Mountains that rise to nearly 14,000 feet winding amid spectacular vistas and breathtaking natural beauty before arriving in Marrakech.
You will have a tour of the medina (Unesco World Heritage Site), and then have free time to take optional tours of the Jardin Majorelle with it’s amazing gardens filled with plants from all over the world and home to the Berber Museum, touring the Bahia Palace, the Badii Palace, the Saadian tombs, or do some shopping in the amazing souks filled with the work of local artisans in wood, plaster, tiles, rugs, baskets, jewelry and more. Marrakech’s culinary delights are sure to impress as well.
You will have your yoga session in the nearby serene and majestic High Atlas Mountains. Some might want to take a scenic and amazing hot air balloon ride over the area.
Option to leave this day from Marrakech
On your way to the fortified seaport of Essaouira (Unesco World Heritage Site) you will pass by vineyards where delicious wine grapes are grown, as well as see goats in the Argan trees (found only in Morocco), and stop at an Argan production business where you will have the opportunity to buy some of the amazing products developed from the Argan nuts, including cosmetic’s, cooking oil, argan butter, and medicinal products. You will see the kite surfers that come from all over the world to surf here and have dinner in the medina.
You will have a free day to take in the sea views from the artillery platform on the ramparts where the cannons have remained for centuries and take a walk along the fishing pier where the local fishermen bring their catch of the day and prepare it for you right there. You can stroll the alleyways filled with art galleries, Thuya wood carvers, jewelry, carpets and pottery. Back in the 70’s this was a place where Prince, The Rolling Stones, Cat Stevens, and many more musicians, would hang out. It has a relaxing vibe and the medina has a charm that is undeniable. Your professional guide will be available to you or you can explore on your own.
You will be able to have a yoga session before you return to Marrakech. There will be time to do some final shopping or do whatever you still wanted to experience while in Morocco. We will meet for dinner where we can share our final experience of immersion into this beautiful country.
