With decades of experience capturing the world’s beauty, Andy Porter is a celebrated photographer and passionate educator. For him, photography has always been intrinsically linked to travel. If you are going to experience vast, incredible landscapes, exotic flowers, or an epic display of the Milky Way, capturing the moment through photography is an essential part of the journey. Capturing the ideal image, with just the right light, is not always easy, but it is always fun.

For several decades, Andy has called the Pacific Northwest home, living between the rugged North Cascades and the serene Puget Sound. Washington State is a photographer’s paradise, boasting rugged mountains, pristine coastlines, winding rivers, dense forests, stunning waterfalls, majestic lighthouses, and more. He currently specializes in astro-photography, finding immense excitement in capturing the night sky. For the past decade, he has served as a full-time high school photography and Photoshop teacher, in addition to teaching evening photography classes for adults for 17 years. Andy is passionate about teaching the fundamentals of photography, including aperture, depth of field, and the techniques for capturing stunning night sky images. He also enjoys instructing on the use of Adobe Photoshop for image editing, empowering aspiring photographers to master their craft. Andy currently resides in La Conner, Washington, at the mouth of the Skagit River, where he operates his Photography Gallery.
