Your desert experience can either be staying at a riad near the desert or in a luxurious tent in the desert. Merzouga is a small town known as the gateway to Erg Chebbi, a huge expanse of sand dunes to the north. You have the option of adding a camel ride. For most this is an amazing, once in a lifetime experience, and recommended to be done at sunset. The tent camp stay includes drumming around a fire under the expansive star filled night sky. It is truly unique and mesmerizing.
South of the High Atlas Mountains and referred to as the gateway to the Sahara Desert, this area is one of the most beautiful oases in Morocco, complete with swaying palm trees and starlit nights.
